Laser diffraction
In laser diffraction, the laser permeates the sample and the intensity of the scattered light is measured. Large particles scatter light at narrow angles, while small particles scatter it at wider angles. Particle size is calculated based on the scattering angle intensity with the help of the Fraunhofer or Mie theory. Typically, when using laser diffraction methods, particle size is reported as DvX.
