EDGE is a unique automated extraction system that combines the advantages of pressurised fluid extraction and dispersive solid phase extraction. Traditionally, sample processing has been a time-consuming step in LC and GC analyses, but EDGE helps clear this bottleneck. Faster than Soxhlet, more automated than QuEChERS, and simpler than other solvent extraction systems.

EDGE is a new kind of fast extractor system in which samples are automatically extracted, one at a time, in the chamber at the back of the device. After extraction, the extract is filtered, cooled and collected in a separate vessel where it is immediately ready for processing or analysing. The EDGE sample holder can hold 12 samples and collection vials at a time, streamlining a busy laboratory workflow.

Before starting, the user weighs the samples and places it in a test tube on a Q-Disc filtration disc. The samples are put into the extractor in the sample holder, after which the desired programs are run via the EDGE touch panel. The autosampler loads individual Q-cups into the chamber at the back of the system. There, the sample is extracted in its own cup using solvents according to the selected method. Up to six separate solvent bottles can be connected to EDGE

The EDGE can be used to extract a variety of samples quickly and effortlessly, without compromising results. Various preset methods are available, and the CEM application lab is constantly developing new ones. In practice, the user only loads the samples on the sample holder, selects the extractor programs, presses ‘Play’ and goes back to work. The system sounds an alarm when the whole batch has been extracted.
